We are officially just TWO MONTHS away from what is sure to be an amazing conference. In addition to our fantastic lineup of speakers, music, food, and fun, we are offering — for the first time ever — two special pre-conference events.
See below for more information as well as the breakout talk titles.
Renewing a Local Congregation, Mockingbird Style — A Pre-Conference Seminar with Aaron Zimmerman and R-J Heijmen (April 23rd, 9–12, Anderson Hall at Calvary)
Join R-J Heijmen and Aaron Zimmerman, rectors of two of the fastest-growing Episcopal churches in the U.S., for a seminar that blends gospel-centered wisdom with a fresh approach. “Renewing Your Local Congregation: Mockingbird Style” will be a lively conversation about how humor, play, and everyday grace breathe life into ministry. We’ll share stories from the front lines — both the joyful and the messy — while offering practical insights on leadership, community, and the nuts-and-bolts of church life.
To attend, tickets must be booked in advance (i.e., this is not part of the all-inclusive conference tier). To purchase your tickets click here!
Preaching a Gospel That’s Gospel — Iowa Preachers Project Pre-Conference Workshop with Ken Jones, Sarah Hinlicky Wilson, and Jason Micheli (April 23rd, 1:30–3:30, Anderson Hall at Calvary)
How does the wow of the gospel compel someone to answer the call to preach? How does the gospel sound coming off an urgent set of lips? New at Mockingbird NYC this year: a pre-conference workshop for preachers and pew sitters alike. Join the staff of Mockingbird’s partner the Iowa Preachers Project for an afternoon on the playground of the Word, where we’ll (1) explore a theology that undergirds the delivery of the goods, (2) talk about an understanding of preaching that frees for the long haul, and (3) think about how the Word goes from the page to the pulpit and off the preacher’s lips to hungry hearts.
You’ll hear about preaching that returns the wow to the weary. And you might find that, for the first time, you’re excited to preach or hear a sermon on Holy Trinity Sunday.
