Mockingbird Events

A parish pastor for fifteen-years in Hamilton, Ontario (a post-steel, post-secular mid-sized Canadian city) Kevin Makins has flown mostly under the radar. His first book, “Why Would Anyone Go to Church?” (Baker Books, 2020) explored the beauty of congregational life in all its mundane glory. His most recent project, a comedy special titled “Revenge of the Earnest” (Youtube, 2025) showed off the spirituality of sincerity through the medium of standup. Kevin lives, works, plays and prays in downtown Hamilton with his wife and two children. He is very excited to share with you.
