Emily Newton works as Mockingbird’s Social Media Manager, happily tasked with smuggling grace onto the internet through graphics, captions, emojis, a little digital mischief + having fully entered her meme era. You can often find her quietly snorting at her desk as she cracks herself up pulling clips from podcasts and conference recordings. She has been writing for Mockingbird for over a decade, and before joining the team in 2025 she taught high school English for fifteen years- a perfect fit for a recovering theater kid who loves the stage but not the trauma of auditions. Emily is a San Antonio native with a degree in English and Education from the University of Texas. She lives in Austin with her husband, John, and their three children; she loves spotting the full-spectrum color of God’s grace wherever it breaks into ordinary days.
