We’ve been doing the NYC conference for 18 years now, which in internet years is a lifetime. You’d think at this point that the whole experience would feel like old hat. Speakers, food, music … you’ve been to one conference you’ve been to them all. We are called Mockingbird, after all, a bird known for repetition.
But somehow each year’s conference feels better than the last — fresher and more vibrant. And this year had its own (Holy Spirit inspired!) surprises: David Zahl’s whale joke while a drone hovers precariously overhead, the concert-turned worship gathering with Sandra McCracken, and an illusionist at the top of his game — to say nothing of all the fantastic speakers who offered an abundant feast for the mind and heart. All that to say, this year’s conference was like none other.
A big thank you to everyone who made it so uniquely wonderful, most especially to Chris and Emily White, Calvary-St. George’s and all the amazing staff and volunteers, the speakers, and everyone in between. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
As always, all the talks below are free to stream and download, but we would greatly appreciate if you could chip in a donation to help defray the conference costs. To do so, click here. Conferences aren’t cheap to put together, and we definitely don’t make money off of them.
Breakout sessions will be up as soon as they’re ready, but we couldn’t wait to share what we’ve got so far. Talks are also available via streaming on Apple and Spotify.
David Zahl, “The Big Relief”
Tony Robinson, “Isn’t Christianity Really Just About Being Good?”
Amy Mantravadi, “We Who Must Die: Resurrection as the Final Relief”
Elizabeth Oldfield, “Demand Nothing, Invite to Everything: How to Be a (Truly) Charismatic Person”
Harrison Scott Key, “Love is a Joke”
Tara Isabella Burton, “Magic and Manifesting: The Enchantments of the Internet?”
Gabe Kasper, “The Problem(s) of Grace”
Aaron Zimmerman, Devotions One and Two

What an amazing conference! Looking forward to getting all the rest of the talks as well… hoping somebody recorded PZ’s pixie dust talk. Thanks Mockingbird!
This was my first conference, and it was fantastic. Looking so forward to the next one!
