On the weekends, I play Wordle
with Jesus. He makes
the puzzles; I guess the words.
I’m not very good (though
I’m learning). That Christ—
he’s a tricky one. Always
thwarting expectations. Upending
things. Full of surprises, that guy.
Take today, for example:
I guessed dread, but
the answer was dream.
Last week, shame
turned out to be share.
Sorry was story,
greed was greet,
and, funny enough,
bleed became bless.
And I should’ve known—
anger was really angel.
That’s how it is with Jesus.
You think it’s death,
but the answer is mercy.

Absolutely positively brilliant!
Wonderful poem. I love how it reflects what living with prayer can do, and how It makes me think of the power of words over our hearts and minds
Aww thanks, Sam! So glad you enjoyed it. It was a fun one to write.
“the power of words over our hearts and minds” — YES, exactly that! Thank you for reading.

Really love this… thanks Sara Kay!
Happy to hear it, Dave! Glad you enjoyed it.
This poem is clever and sweet, but the best part is that it’s true! Thank God for reversals and divine interruptions and beatific surprises.
