Big news: after a two-year layoff, my brothers and I are back with a new season of The Brothers Zahl podcast!
If you’re unfamiliar with the series, I like to think of it as an ongoing Mockingbird 101 Course, or “Intro to Non-Awful-and-In-Fact-Radically-Exciting Christianity.” The three of us come from the same DNA, theological and otherwise, but approach things from hopefully complementary angles, Simeon being an academic theologian, John the pastor of a church, and me an author and professional mockingbird.
I’m really proud of the four jumbo-sized episodes we’ve put together this time around. Our subject in the premiere is a towering one: “The Law.” It sounds foreboding, but I swear it’s a ton of fun and hopefully illuminating too, as Lord knows this is a subject that’s prone to misunderstanding and distortion. Plus, Simeon is pretty smart (and the music is so, so, so good).
Thou shalt listen, in other words.
Available now wherever you get your podcasts. New episodes drop every Monday in July, the schedule being:
- July 6 – Episode 20: The Law [Apple/Spotify]
- July 13 – Episode 21: The Theology of the Cross [Apple/Spotify]
- July 20 – Episode 22: The Bible
- July 27 – Episode 23: Culture
Past episode topics read, hopefully, like an index of the subjects that are near and dear not only to Mockingbird but also to the faith itself:
- Episode 1: God
- Episode 2: Holiness
- Episode 3: Evil
- Episode 4: Church
- Episode 5: Abreaction
- Episode 6: Grace
- Episode 7: Jesus
- Episode 8: Prayer
- Episode 9: Creativity
- Episode 10: Depression
- Episode 11: Salvation
- Episode 12: Aging
- Episode 13: Christmas
- Episode 14: Faith
- Episode 15: Free Will?
- Episode 16: Imputation
- Episode 17: The Holy Spirit
- Episode 18: Easter
- Episode 19: Parenting

The new epsiodes have been awesome. I love listening to the three of you. Thank you for taking the time to do them.
