Well, that was embarrassing. We’ll spare you the techno mumbo-jumbo, but suffice it to say, a few of the servers out in California that house Mbird suffered an unexpected and protracted meltdown, and contingency plans were revealed to be a little less than robust. Hopefully you appreciated the irony of the situation more than we did, what with all our talk about human agency and the lack thereof. Rest assured, we are taking steps to make sure we never have to taste our own medicine again! Famous last words.

Thank you so much for bearing with us, and we appreciate your continued patience while we work out the kinks (the site may run slower than normal for the next few days). We should be back to our regularly scheduled blogging first thing on Monday. Until then:
