Tim Blackmon

Rev. Tim Blackmon recently marked thirty years in pastoral ministry. A native of The Hague, the Netherlands, his path has spanned church planting in California to serving his home congregation, the American Protestant Church of The Hague. After serving as Chaplain of Wheaton College, he now ministers at Second Christian Reformed Church in Grand Haven, Michigan.

Tim is a PhD candidate in Homiletics at the Theological University of Apeldoorn. His research focuses on the 19th-century Dutch Reformed pastor H.F. Kohlbrugge, specifically examining his sermons on 1 Peter and the Heidelberg Catechism. Tim is exploring how Kohlbrugge’s “theology of consolation” might contribute to the development of an affective homiletical theory, a project he is currently developing into a book titled The Consolation of Homiletics.

Tim and his wife, Betsy, have four children: Luke (married to Krysta), Jessica (a first-grade teacher), and David and Jonathan (both students at Calvin University). Rounding out the household is their standard poodle, Cali, who provides her own kind of canine consolation.
