The Anne Rice Chronicles: Part 2

More news on a story we’ve been following with some interest here at Mockingbird: Anne Rice’s very public rejection of Christianity (while maintaining her personal devotion to and belief in Christ). The author recently gave a well-worth-a-look interview to Christianity Today. Read it and see what you think. She talks about her thinking on the […]

Obesity and the Bound Will

NEWS FLASH: there’s a really interesting Mockingbird thread going on right now, started by Jeff Dean and Dave Browder, on a proposed tax on sugar sweetened drinks like Coke. It’s already quite long — take a look! The thoughtful comments started by Herr Browder made me think of an extraordinary cover article in THE ATLANTIC […]

Rush Rocks (But Suffers from a Misguided Anthropology)

Just For Now

This is mostly just my favorite clip of one of my favorite artists. You have to watch it. Honestly, it will blow your mind.

That being said, the chorus also contains something of what I think church should be; what God is saying to us in the midst of our suffering:

It’s that time of year, (or week – rj)
Leave all our hopelessnesses aside (if just for a little while)
Tears stop right here,
I know we’ve all had a bumpy ride (I’m secretly on your side)

PS Props to Daniel Roseberry for sharing this clip with me a little while back.
