I’ve seen this film several times but it still astonishes me just how much has been woven into it at any given moment…a friend of mine and I watched those same two minutes over and over again a few evenings ago just marveling at what is being said and shown..it brings on tears, every time. Also worth noting…the piece of music in the sequence is an excerpt from John Tavener’s “Funeral Canticle”, which incidentally seems to have been composed for his own father’s funeral.
