In case you needed another reason to check out our own The Gospel According to Pixar, I submit to you the following cartoon from poe-news:

It’s funny because it’s true. The Dreamworks formula is to get big name talent (Jack Black, Jerry Seinfeld, Will Smith, Eddie Murphy, and Will Farrell to name a few) to inflate a less than stellar story, while Pixar just keeps putting out Oscar winning movies.

As the father of an 8 year old I can confirm that this is absolutely true.

I'm al for pixar but Dreamworks did have an amazing year with how to train your dragons, Mega Mind, and despicable me. I thought they were amazing.

I agree that How to Train Your Dragon and Despicable Me were good, borderline very good, movies (I haven't gotten to MegaMind) – but this year seems to be an aberration.

Look at their upcoming slate of movies for the next two years, it's more of the same:

    Kung Fu Panda 2 – May 26, 2011
    Puss in Boots – Nov. 4, 2011
    Madagascar 3 – June 8, 2012
Rise of the Guardians – Nov. 21, 2012

I really liked How to Train Your Dragon and my son LOVES Despicable me, but to me at least they were nothing more than feel-good movies. By comparison, Pixar movies have a depth to them that I find very engaging.

I think Kung Fu Panda 2 has a chance. The rest I will admit look like rubbish. I would say Dreamworks has a good year every 3 years. PIxar is my favorite by far. All the Toy Storys and Monster's Inc are some of my favorite movies of all time but I thought dreamsworks did really well with their last three movies. But they put alot more crap than good.
