Since many of the Mockingbird readers are musically savvy and top ten lists are no stranger to this blog, I thought this could be fun.

My wife and I just had our first child in early January and she has received some pretty cool gear. I particularly like her “Jesus is My Homeboy” and KISS onesies. But her aunt Rachel and uncle Jacob bought her the best present—lullabies from Rockabye Baby.

Basically, it is cool baby music. They transform some of the best classic rock, punk, alternative, and metal into lullabies. They currently have 25 different albums. Here are my top ten renditions:

  1. Metallica
  2. U2
  3. Nirvana
  4. Smashing Pumpkins
  5. Bob Marley
  6. Coldplay
  7. Radiohead
  8. Led Zepplin
  9. Nine Inch Nails (As much as I like Nine Inch Nails, I’m grossed out by humming “Closer to God” to a kid.)
  10. AC/DC

So, what’s missing? What should be next? I’m hoping for Guns N’ Roses, Beastie Boys, Rage Against the Machine….and Stryper.

i have a dream and that dream is singing a lullaby version of “sweet child o mine” to an actual sweet child o mine.

Some of the Lullaby albums do have a charm to them and are lovely to listen to. Others just put the fear of SATAN into me let alone a small baby as they have a haunting quality
    Almost like a COIL album.
